1. Cancellation & Refunds

1.1 Subscription Cancellations

  • If you cancel your monthly or annual subscription, your account will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle, after which your access to paid features will be revoked.
  • We do not provide refunds for unused portions of a subscription term.

1.2 Money-Back Guarantee

  • We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee for new subscribers.
  • If you are not satisfied with Kernel within 7 days of your first payment, you may request a full refund by contacting our support team at billing@getkernel.co.
  • Refund requests beyond the 7-day period will not be considered.

2. Free Tier & Upgrades

  • Kernel offers a free plan, allowing users to evaluate the platform before subscribing to a paid plan.
  • If you upgrade from the free plan to a paid plan, the 7-day money-back guarantee still applies from the date of the first payment.

3. Failed Payments & Grace Periods

  • If a payment fails (e.g., due to insufficient funds or an expired card), we may provide a grace period before suspending or downgrading your account.
  • We will attempt to retry the charge automatically and may notify you via email to update your payment details.
  • If payment is not completed within the grace period, your subscription may be suspended or downgraded to the free tier.

4. Chargebacks & Disputes

4.1 What is a Chargeback?

A chargeback occurs when a user disputes a payment with their bank or card issuer. Chargebacks are typically intended for fraudulent transactions but can sometimes be misused.

4.2 Industry Best Practices for Chargebacks

  • If a chargeback is filed against Kernel, your account may be immediately suspended or terminated while the dispute is resolved.
  • Before disputing a charge, we encourage users to contact us directly at billing@getkernel.co to resolve any billing concerns.
  • If the chargeback is resolved in our favor, we may reinstate your account at our discretion.
  • If the chargeback is upheld, we reserve the right to permanently ban your account from future use of Kernel.

5. Refund Processing Time

  • If a refund is approved, it will be processed in accordance with Stripe’s platform capabilities.
  • Refunds typically take 5-10 business days to appear on your original payment method, depending on your bank.
